As a director with Newmark Knight Frank, Avi Cotter has more than 15 years of experience in national retail tenant expansion. Mr. Cotter is based in Manhattan, where he focuses primarily on representing such tenants as The Children’s Place and Peloton Cycle in the New York metropolitan area and throughout the U.S.
Mr. Cotter joined NKF in 2019, when parent company Newmark Group, Inc. acquired RKF, a New York-based retail real estate brokerage and investment firm. Prior to RKF, he served as director of new market expansion for Blink Fitness. He also held senior real estate positions with Theory/Helmut Lang and Calypso St. Barth, where he concentrated on flagship locations, and Ann Taylor and L’Occitane, where he focused on regional shopping center sites.
Mr. Cotter is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of New York (REBNY) and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is also an active charity marathon runner, supporting the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Mr. Cotter earned a Juris Doctor degree from Washington College of Law at American University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mr. Cotter has lived in New York since 2000.
