Rob Ury serves as a senior managing director with Newmark Knight Frank in Los Angeles. He specializes in tenant and landlord representation, and works with a variety of restaurants and retailers.
Mr. Ury has worked with a number of notable tenants, including Adidas, Asics, Bareburger, Beauty Collection. Blaze Fast, Blue C Sushi, Buffalo Wild Wings, Corepower Yoga, Fire’d Pizza, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Flywheel Sports, J. Jill, Kriser’s Natural Pet, L’Occitane en Provence, La Colombe Coffee Roasters, Mendocino Farms Sandwich Market, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Oakley, OneWest Bank, Pei Wei Asian Diner, Sephora, Sweetgreen and Veggie Grill.
His landlord clients have included ASB Real Estate Investments, CIM Group, Federal Realty Investment Trust, Simms Commercial Development and West Coast Investors, along with several individual landlords and family trusts.
Mr. Ury has arranged more than 135 lease transactions since the start of his real estate career. Among the most significant were the negotiation of ULTA’s 11,746-square-foot lease in Rancho Santa Margarita on behalf of Fortus Property Group in 2011; Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams’ 11,400-square-foot Beverly Hills flagship store on North Beverly Drive in 2012; Urban Outfitters Surplus’ 8,700-square-foot lease in Sherman Oaks on behalf of West Coast Investors in 2013; and Oakley’s 3,000-square-foot Santa Monica flagship on Third Street Promenade in 2014. While representing West Coast Investors in Sherman Oaks in 2013, Mr. Cohen was instrumental in negotiating a 4,400-square-foot lease with Midici, a new modern Italian restaurant concept from Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, for its first-ever location. On behalf of Arcturus Group, he helped draw House of Blues out of Downtown Disney to a new, 40,000-square-foot facility at Anaheim GardenWalk in Anaheim, which opened in early 2017. Most recently, he secured leases with Knoll and Flexform for a combined 7,800 square feet on North Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood on behalf of ASB Real Estate Investments and partners. Both showrooms opened in late 2017.
Currently, Mr. Ury is involved in the expansion of leading fast casual concept Mendocino Farms Sandwich Market from Los Angeles to San Diego. He is also representing Sweetgreen, which moved its headquarters from Washington, DC, to Los Angeles in 2016, in its expansion in Southern California, and he has to date helped the fast casual restaurant chain arrange seven leases in Los Angeles County. In similar fashion, Mr. Ury has worked to bring Washington, DC-based La Colombe Coffee Roasters to Los Angeles with three high-profile leases in Silverlake, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. Since 2012, Mr. Ury and his partners have secured four locations for Adidas North America, including a new flagship store on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, and an Adidas Originals flagship on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. Both locations opened in late 2017. Robert has also represented The Flame Broiler in more than 70 corporate and franchised leases throughout Southern California since 2009.
Mr. Ury joined Newmark Knight Frank in 2019, when corporate parent Newmark Group, Inc., acquired RKF, a New York-based retail real estate brokerage. He joined RKF’s Los Angeles office in 2011. Prior to RKF, Mr. Ury was an associate with California Commercial Partners, Inc. in Newport Beach, where he arranged more than 50 leases with an aggregate value in excess of $18 million.
Mr. Ury is a licensed real estate salesperson in the stat of California and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Mr. Ury earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in real estate finance at the University of Southern California.
